THE LAWYERS

Tough, Honest, Caring Immigration Lawyers. The Best Immigration Attorneys.

HOUMAN VARZANDEH

I began my training in immigration law before graduating from law school. I served as an extern with the United States Department of Justice, Executive Office for Immigration Review in 1997. During that service, I worked closely for the immigration Judges in Los Angeles doing legal research and writing, and helping them formulate legal opinions about complex issues of deportability.

While in law school, I was on the board of governors of Southwestern University's prestigious Law Review as the Special Projects Editor and also a member of the Moot Court Honors Program. I graduated cum laude from Southwestern University School of Law in 1998.

Upon graduation, I was chosen by then United States Attorney General Janet Reno as part of her prestigious US Department of Justice Honors program and assigned a position as an assistant chief counsel with the Immigration and Naturalization Service ("INS") in Los Angeles, California. As an assistant chief counsel for the INS, I litigated countless cases on behalf of the US government in both detained and non-detained settings, as well as before the Board of Immigration Appeals.

I joined the private sector in 2001 and today my practice is a national practice whereby I defend immigrants facing removal and deportation throughout the United States. These cases involve complex issues of removability and/or eligibility for relief from removal.  In addition, I am consistently sought by criminal attorneys throughout the United States seeking legal advice on the various federal immigration law consequences to pleas made in state Courts, as well as various strategies in post-conviction relief.

My vast experience and in depth understanding of immigration law is highly sought by aliens throughout the United States and hence I travel throughout the four corners of the United States, whether it be the immigration Courts in Buffalo, New York or Atlanta, Georgia or Seattle, Washington, or San Diego, California always defending aliens' rights in removal proceedings.

I am a member of the state Bar of Arizona, the American Immigration Lawyers' Association, and I am authorized to practice law before all immigration Courts throughout the United States, the Board of Immigration Appeals, along with the United States Courts of Appeals for the 3rd, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, and 11th circuits.
